Privacy

This is a working draft. It describes honestly how Dozumo is built today, and we are publishing it early so you can see our posture before you trust us with anything. It has not yet been through legal review, and the final version published at launch may be worded differently. Nothing here is a legal guarantee until then.

The short version

• You hold the account, not your child.
• The only things we store about your child are a first name and an age.
• No ads. Not now, not later, not as a “free tier”.
• No third-party analytics or trackers anywhere in the child’s experience.
• Payments go through Apple and Google, so we never see your card.
• Your data lives in the EU (Ireland).
• You can delete everything, from inside the app, whenever you like.

Who we are

Dozumo is a small team building a routine app for young children. For data-protection purposes we are the data controller for the information described below. You can reach a human at hello@dozumo.com.

The account belongs to you

A child never creates an account, never signs in, and never gives us anything directly. A parent or guardian sets everything up, and the parent’s area of the app sits behind a gate. Everything below is information yougave us on your child’s behalf.

What we collect

From you, the parent

• Your email address — to sign you in, and to send you the small number of messages the app genuinely needs to send. If you joined the waitlist on this website, we hold your email for that too, and nothing else.
• Your family’s settings — timezone, whether Holiday Mode is on, the routines and rewards you have set up, and whether you have an active subscription.

About your child

• A first name and an age. That is the entire list. No surname, no birthday, no photograph, no address, no school, no contact details of any kind.
• What they did in the app— which routine tasks were completed and when, so the app can show today’s progress and their collection. This is the product working, not a profile being built.

We ask for a first name so Mozumo can greet your child by it, and an age so the app can pitch the routines correctly. Pick a nickname instead if you would rather — the app works exactly the same.

What we never collect

• No location. No contacts. No microphone or camera access. No photos.
• No advertising identifiers, and no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
• No card or bank details — see Payments below.

No ads, and no tracking of children

There is no advertising in Dozumo and there never will be, in any tier. There are no third-party analytics tools, tag managers, session recorders or social pixels in the child’s experience. We do keep basic technical logs of our own (the kind any server keeps in order to stay up and stay secure), and we may in future measure product usage in an aggregated, non-identifying way — if we do, it will be our own measurement, not an advertising company’s, and this page will say so plainly.

This website is likewise free of third-party trackers. Its fonts are served from our own domain rather than fetched from Google.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by the App Store and Google Play. Your card details go to Apple or Google and never touch our systems — we only ever learn whether a subscription is active. Apple and Google handle that transaction under their own privacy policies.

Where your data lives

Our database and backups are hosted with Supabase in the European Union (Ireland). Data stays in the EU in normal operation. A small number of service providers we rely on to run the business — for example, email delivery — may process data outside the EU; where that happens we use providers that offer the safeguards the GDPR requires.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, we do not rent it, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. The only parties who touch it are the service providers who operate the product for us (hosting, email delivery, app-store billing), each of them bound to use it only on our instructions. We would disclose data if the law genuinely required it, and we would tell you unless we were forbidden from doing so.

Children’s privacy specifically

Dozumo is designed for children aged roughly three to twelve, and is built to the expectations of COPPA in the United States and the GDPR’s rules on children (including the UK Age Appropriate Design Code) in Europe. In practice that means: verifiable parental consent through the parent-held account; the smallest amount of data we can possibly work with; no behavioural advertising and no profiling; no nudges, streak-shaming or loss mechanics designed to pull a child back in; and no social features, chat, or user-generated content.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open. Delete your account and we delete your family’s data from our live systems, with backups ageing out shortly afterwards. Waitlist emails are deleted once we have launched and told you about it, or as soon as you ask, whichever comes first.

Your rights

You can ask to see your data, correct it, export it, or have it erased. Deleting your account from inside the app does all of that at once, immediately and without needing to email anybody. If you would rather ask a person, write to hello@dozumo.com. If you are in the EU or UK and you think we have handled your data badly, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority — though we would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes to this policy

When this changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, if the change is significant, tell you by email rather than hoping you notice. This draft will be replaced by a reviewed version before launch.
